Confidentiality
Any discussion between the client and massage therapist is confidential and will not travel beyond the session. (The exception is that I am obligated to report suspicion of child abuse to the proper authorities.) The release of client records may be required by court order, but for no other reason.
Clients’ Rights
As a client it is your right to have your boundaries respected. The best way to achieve this is through honest communication with and feedback to your therapist before, during, and after the session. This way your preferences will be known and the session can be tailored to your specific needs.
Client/therapist relationship / Sexual misconduct
In massage the client-therapist relationship is professional and supportive, meant to promote healing and growth. Massage therapy is in no way sexual. Sexual advances or discussion made by the client are unacceptable and are just cause for ending a session.
Scope of Practice
As a massage therapist I am not authorized to make diagnoses or prescribe any substances. If you need assistance or treatment beyond the scope of my practice I will refer you to a professional in that field.
Hygiene and Sickness
All equipment and materials that come in contact with a client will be cleaned appropriately immediately following their session. I will come to my appointments clean, and expect the same from my clients.
For Zen Shiatsu therapy, please wear clean socks and comfortable clothes that allow for stretching of the legs and arms.
If you are feeling unwell, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss whether or not to proceed with the session.
Cancellation/Late Policy
If you should need to cancel your appointment for any non-emergency reason, please give at least 24 hours notice. If you fail to give this notice I will have to charge you for the session, as that time has been specially set aside for you.
Lateness for an appointment will result in a shortened session, ending at the scheduled time.
